It is a study of the Cash Transfer System in Brazil, the long term and immediate impacts of the program and the lessons that can serve as reference for India. This study explores the Cash Transfer System to the poor that began in the mid 1980s in Campinas in Sao Paulo, and in the Federal District of Brasilia. The study aims at stimulating a debate in India and the possibility of adopting the model of cash transfer for anti-poverty programmes in India.
