The larger aim of the project is to examine the barriers to economic empowerment for women in rural India and the process and manner in which collective action-based programmes, such as MS, can address these barriers. The study is located in two states, Karnataka and Bihar, and uses a combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods, namely, Randomised Control Trials (RCTs) and ethnography.
