Srinivas and Bhavani attended the experts’ workshop on “Economic Inclusivity in India: Conceptual and Empirical Recommendations for an Indicator Framework” at IIIT-B on 19 August 2017. The workshop under the Rockefeller Foundation’s Inclusive Economies project team was headed by Chris Benner the Director of the Everett Program.

The workshop first began with a description of the reasoning of the inclusive economies model as a measure for development and provided examples of their work in South Africa, Colombia and India to help understand the work done so far.  The team presented their findings for their indicators to be used for the Indian example under the Inclusive Economies measures. The study focused solely on the study of rural areas in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Kerala and Rajasthan. The workshop has multiple group sessions where participants would provide their insights on a specific indicator or trend in the model that they felt would be beneficial to the study and could improve their indicator frameworks.
