The book titled ‘Open and Distance Learning in Secondary School Education in India – Potentials and Limitations’ published by Routledge Taylor & Francis Group is out for the UK/ US markets. It will be made available in the South-Asian markets soon. This book was based on our study Open and Distance Learning as a Cost-effective Option for Secondary Level Schooling in India: Potential and Prerequisites funded by MacArthur Foundation.

The authors of the book are Jyotsna Jha, Neha Ghatak, Puja Minni, Shobita Rajagopal and Shreekanth Mahendiran.

This book is the first systematic attempt to document the Open and Distance Learning (ODL)-based school education in India. It is based on large-scale empirical data collected from across the states, to study the equity, efficiency and effectiveness of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The volume brings out some nuanced theoretical framework for understanding school education provisions and seeks to generate policy discourse around delivery mechanisms and effectiveness of ODL.
