A collaborative study between CBPS and the Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) was undertaken to assess the relative poverty status of new members of micro-finance or self-help groups (SHGs) being organised by Prayas in two panchayats of the Boipariguda block in Koraput district of Orissa. It was conducted by Dr. Sharadini Rath and Mr. Jacob John of CBPS and was supported locally by COATS – the Council of Analytical Tribal Studies – in Koraput. The methodology used is the one developed by the Consultative Group for Assisting the Poor (CGAP).
