CBPS organised an Online Teachers’ Training Workshop on Education in Emergency from 13 December to 17 December 2021

‘Education in emergency’ was an online training workshop for nodal teachers from the nine government schools that Bihar Mentorship Project (BMP) engages with. It was a five-day workshop held between the 13th and 17th of December 2021. The purpose of the workshop was to train teachers on how to respond in emergency situations and ensure continuation of education for children, especially those belonging to the most marginalised sections.

Multiple themes like resources and constraints within a school ecosystem, principles and case studies of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), pedagogical framework of Experience-Reflection-Action-Consolidation (ERAC) in classroom as well as ODL were discussed. Teachers were also familiarised with using technological tools like Zoom, Google Input and Google Forms. Dr. Vinodanad Jha (Director, Research and Training, Department of Education Research and Training) was present for the valedictory session and spoke about the importnace for this training in building resilance of the school system to withstand situations of emergency. He also appreciated the teachers for their continued efforts to ensure learning of students in times of school closure. The first phase of the workshop was held in person, on 22nd September in Patna.
