During the last year, The Ramalingaswami Centre has been on a journey along with the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) and School of Public Health at the University of Western Cape in South Africa, exploring ‘Promising Practices in integrating Gender into Government Health Programs’. This work builds on their earlier work on What Works in Gender and Health in the United Nations, using the realist evaluation framework.
The Ramalingaswami Centre has developed two cases which showed promise in this regard: the Gender Guidance Clinics initiated by the Government of Tamil Nadu, and the collaboration between government and civil society to integrate Gender in Medical Education.
The Ramalingaswami Centre is organising a two-day Policy Dialogue to share the lessons learned and insights gained from their work, and to collectively brainstorm about opportunities and strategies to take initiatives forward.
