Kanaja Youth Research Cell and Centre for Youth Rights Promotion and Youth Work Advocacy, Samvada, hosted a symposium on 17th and 18th of May 2023. Dr. Niveditha Menon was invited as a panelist on the panel titled Youth Citizenship and Action for Socio-ecological Justice. The title of her talk was “Love is as love does”: Stories of Romance, Violence and Justice. The talk focussed on the manner in which romance scripts are intricately linked with narratives of violence. Through different stories and lived experiences collected over the period of 7 years and through multiple projects, she presented the connections between narratives of romance and violence in the context of families, public space, and our understanding of love.
