CBPS co-organised a two-day workshop with UNICEF India in Lucknow on ‘Enhancing Early Childhood Development Investments in Uttar Pradesh’ on 14th and 15th of September 2023. The workshop was a grand success, with active participation from various state government departments including Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Basic Education, Department of Finance, and civil society organisations. The workshop was inaugurated by Ms Sarneet Kaur, Director, Department of Women and Child Development.
Dr Jyotsna Jha, Mr Madhusudhan BV Rao, Ms Neha Ghatak, Mr Rajat Chaudhary, and Ms Abida U C presented different investment cases on ECD. Various models of ECD from the states of Kerala, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh were also presented.
The first day of the workshop focused on dissemination of the theoretical underpinnings of ECD. The second day involved capacity-building through learnings from public expenditure analysis for enhancing ECD investments.
The concluding remarks were delivered by the Director and the Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Development, Uttar Pradesh.
This was the first of a series of state workshops that is being conducted on responsive ECD models.
