Anusha Iyer attended and presented at the Joint World Conference on Social Work, Education, and Social Development – SWSD 2018, held in Dublin, Ireland from 4-7 July 2018. The conference was jointly organized by the International Federation of Social Workers, the International Schools of Social Work, and the International Council on Social Welfare. The theme for the biennial conference in 2018 was Environmental and Community Sustainability and Human Solutions in Evolving Societies. The conference covered a range of themes such as identity, refugee crisis, mental health, community development, education, well-being, poverty, gender, and many more. Iyer presented a paper titled Between Care, Capabilities, and Well-being as an oral presentation under the sub-theme of Rights of Families and Children on 7 July 2018.
Some of the keynote speakers for the conference were Mary Robinson (former President of Ireland and President of the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice), Bhavna Mehta (Professor at the Faculty of Social Work, MSU, India), Vasilios Ioakimidis (Founding Professor of Social Work and Director of the Centre for Social Work at the University of Essex) and John Pinkerton (Professor of Child and Family Social Work in the School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work at Queen’s University of Belfast).
