The policy brief highlights that while a large proportion of households across India received some form of government support during the pandemic, there were significant variations in the type and reach of support across different states. Anganwadi centres were more effective in some states than in others, particularly in Assam and Telangana, while Bihar and UP had limited reach. Direct cash transfers were issued as well, though their reach and effectiveness is unclear.
