Niveditha Menon, Director of the Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS), was invited to speak at a national Partners’ Consultation held in New Delhi on 15 and 16 June, focused on strengthening the financing of Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) programmes across India.
Titled Generating New Pathways for Scale, Equity and Sustainability, the consultation was organised by ROSHNI – Centre of Women Collectives led Social Action in collaboration with UNICEF India. The event brought together policymakers, programme partners, and technical experts from across the country. Niveditha Menon presented on Investing in Behaviour Change: Making SBC Financing Work at Scale which was facilitated by Subrat Das, Program Officer at the Ford Foundation.

Drawing from a five-state study conducted by CBPS on Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and Social and Behaviour Change activities across five centrally sponsored schemes, Menon presented findings on the process of fund utilisation, availability and utilisation of funds, the good practices, and the challenges across funds, functions, and functionaries.
The two-day consultation served as a platform for all the speakers to reflect on the current landscape of SBC in India and discuss pathways for long-term sustainability.
