CBPS is happy to announce that we are e-releasing a short report titled, ‘Civil Society Responses to Covid: Two cases‘. This is based on the last of the five-webinar series conducted by the Centre for Budget and Policy Studies on Impact of Covid 19 on children, livelihoods, economy and education including the response mechanisms adopted for the same.
Through our collaborative research with two grassroots-based civil society organisations, Doosra Dashak in Rajasthan, and Bhumika Women’s Collective in Telangana, we tried to understand and analyse the specific ways in which these two organisations used their expertise, networks and reach to provide support to vulnerable communities, and the challenges they faced. We present the importance that long-standing community relationships and collective action influenced the creation of resilient strategies during the pandemic. In doing so, we illustrate the potential of the scope and role that organisations such as Doosra Dashak and Bhumika Women’s Collective can play in providing collective action in times of crisis.
