We are extremely delighted to announce that Niveditha Menon has been appointed as the new Director of CBPS and has commenced her duties from 1 November 2023. We extend our heartiest congratulations to her.
Niveditha has been a Senior Research Advisor at CBPS since 2015, and a Deputy Director since 2022. With more than two decades of research experience in diverse areas, her specialisation in gender has allowed her to explore issues related to gender violence, sexuality, education, masculinity, and the empowerment of women. She has also worked in the areas of governance, education, and information technologies. Recently, she has started working more deeply in the areas of public spaces and gender-responsive budgeting.
Menon has a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in Sociology and Demography with a minor in Women’s Studies. She completed her master’s degree at Pennsylvania State University and her undergraduate degrees at Rutgers University (USA) and St. Francis College (Osmania University, Hyderabad). Prior to CBPS, she has also worked at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore, the Centre for Study of Science, Technology, and Policy (CSTEP), Greenpeace, and IT for Change.
