Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) would require considerable mobilization
of resources especially since Karnataka has not been able to achieve all the MDGs. As a starting point,
it is important to know what the current levels of expenditures related to SDGs are, in order to appreciate
the challenges that lie ahead. In this context CBPS is undertaking the review public expenditure related to SDGs
in Karnataka by analyzing state’s budget documents for the last three years i.e. 2014-15 (Actual Expenditures),
2015-16 (Revised Estimates) and 2016-17 (Budget Estimates). Additionally, this study would, in the process,
establish a methodological template for similar exercises in respect of other states and for the country as a whole.
