This study aimed at understanding the status of educational attainment for tribal populations in select districts in Maharashtra with high, medium, and low levels of enrollment. Against the context of statistically lower literacy levels and education amongst tribal children, the study looked at policies and programmes that ensured special attention towards tribal education. It also explored convergences between departments of education and tribal development and suggested possible revisions in the policies/programmes. As a part of this study, CBPS aimed to conduct education assessments in primary, upper primary and secondary schools in Maharashtra.
