CBPS conducted a state-level evaluation of the recently introduced crop insurance scheme – Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna that was launched in Karnataka in April 2016. The first phase of the study contributed to scoping the scheme and highlighting factors that affect crop insurance. In the second phase, a large-scale impact evaluation of this scheme was conducted to get an understanding of the potential for the uptake of crop insurance schemes across the country as well as provide recommendations for improvement.
