Management of Water Quality: Midterm Evaluation Completed

Area(s) of work: Water & Sanitation

Duration: 2012-14

Status: Completed

Funder: Arghyam Karuna Trust

Karuna Trust with funding from Arghyam piloted an intervention in districts of Chamarajanagar and Chickballapur to improve water quality surveillance through enhanced awareness about issues relating to water quality and by bridging gap in information sharing between different levels. Karuna Trust also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Government of Karnataka for implementing this initiative. The Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS), was responsible for conducting independent monitoring and evaluation. The results of mid-term evaluation showed that while there were some positive changes owing to activities under taken by Karuna Trust, overall impact was poor.
