Abstract

This report details the events and technical learnings from the orientation programme designed and organised by CBPS on urban finances and governance practices from elected and bureaucratic representatives from the Sri Lankan local government and provincial councils. The orientation programme was organized by Centre for Budget and Policy Studies, Bengaluru with support from The Asia Foundation, Colombo. The report presents a summary of the week long orientation programme that included technical sessions in classroom environments as well as field visits to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) and Maddur Municipality. A detailed agenda of the programme is given at the end of the report, titled as Annexure 1.
